ScenesScenesScenes
Winter Scenes is an opportunity for students to write, costume, design sets, design lighting, and direct their peers in short plays performed in the intimate setting of the Black Box Theater. Any and all genres of theater performance are welcome to be submitted for consideration for each season. The whole process is entirely student lead and is a great opportunity as a student director to have the ultimate culminating experience of producing your own show! Because the casts are small, it is also an opportunity for students to participate in all aspects of theater and to forge lifelong friendships with their castmates. If there are any questions about Winter Scenes and how to apply to be a director, please contact Ben Lundy (benaiah_lundy@ipsd.org) or Tiffany Gervasio (tiffany_gervasio@ipsd.org) with any questions!

This year’s Winter Scenes, student directed one acts, are a blend of comedy, intrigue, and truth. The Last Comedian focuses on the green-room of a popular stand-up competition. Three comedians vie for the top spot, and learn a little about themselves along the way. A Woman of No Importance is an adaptation from an Oscar Wilde play that reveals troubling attitudes about the roles of women in Victorian Society that echo even today. And finally, Lockdown puts the audience in a row of desks as students navigate their way through a school threat. Together, these shows hold up a mirror to society and ask us to take a good look at ourselves and what we do in our day-to-day lives.

Show dates are January 27th through January 29th at 7 PM in the Metea Valley Theater Black Box. General Admission is $10, Students/Seniors is $5! See you then!
