Talula Hayes

My name is Talula Hayes and I am currently a Junior at Metea. This will be my third year on the Metea Valley Speech Team and my first year as a Captain. I have done DDA (Dramatic Duet Acting) for 2 years and poetry reading for 1 year! I’m passionate about acting and theater and this team is an amazing opportunity to get involved; it inspired me to audition for the Fall Play and Children’s Show where I found my home at Metea. The Speech Team has made me feel comfortable enough to go out of my comfort zone often and try new things. The first year I joined the team, I was paired with my DDA partner Courtney Upton, whom I did not know at the time. Meeting someone new for the first time was intimidating for freshman year me, but she’s quickly become my best friend. Speech builds connections and gives you a wonderful sense of community, and I can’t wait to help you share your voice with the world!

Outside of my life in speech, I’m interested in acting, art, and writing, and I hope to pursue my love for English in the future. I’m thinking of going into either journalism or teaching, though I’m currently undecided. Most of my music taste is all over the place, but my all time favorite artists include Taylor Swift (though not as much as superfan Gianna!) and Phoebe Bridgers. Last year I was involved in Metea’s first ever children's show, Jack and the Magic Beans, and I’m hoping to be involved in the fall play this year as well. Theater has fueled my love for meeting new people, so if you ever see me in the hallway; feel free to say hi!

I hope you have an incredible year at Metea, and we’re so excited to see you on the Speech Team this coming year. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions regarding Speech!
